WELCOME TO 12U L.L.C. — HOME OF SIGHT-A-LIGHT™
The Problem
Millions of wheelchair users worldwide face a hidden danger: drivers often cannot see them at night. Existing lights point down at the ground, leaving users invisible in crosswalks, parking lots, and dark streets. Too many accidents happen simply because people sit lower to the ground and disappear in the dark. For many, fear forces them to stay home after sunset.
My Story
I’m Lu, a former wheelchair user of ten years. One stormy night in 2003, while driving through a blackout, my headlights suddenly revealed a woman in a wheelchair ahead of me. She was terrified, and though I stopped in time, we were both shaken. That moment made it clear — something had to change.
By 2006, I built the first prototype of a Portable Upright Overhead Warning Light with an Audible Siren Alert Device. In 2013, 12U received a patent for the Wheelchair Safety Light Device. After 22 years of development, we are close to bringing Sight-A-Light™ to market.
Our Mission
Sight-A-Light™ is designed to make wheelchair users visible, safe, and free to move confidently at night. To finish this journey, we need support for:
-
Manufacturing and production
-
Safety testing and certifications
-
Marketing and distribution
